Some families may be intimidated when they hear the words “support group,” but we want to assure everyone that we keep this group casual, lighthearted, and positive! This group is a place where children with IBD can feel welcome and make friends with other children who understand the intricacies of the disease. It’s a place to play games, like Jeopardy, Pictionary, and Telestrations. It’s a place for role playing and simulated debates with a judge. It’s a place where families can seek information about IBD and gain new skillsets to cope with the disease. It’s a place to trade IBD insider tips and advice. Most of all, it’s a place where pediatric IBD patients and their families can seek comfort and understanding. And of course, if that is not enough, snacks are provided!

In this context, “caregiver” means anyone who is caring for a pediatric IBD patient, whether that be a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, older sibling, or other! In this meeting, we share advice and tips for raising children with IBD, the latest IBD research and information, and our emotions in regards to caring for a child with medical needs. This is a place for caregivers to feel understood and supported. We know that caring for a child with IBD can be draining!
