Christina serves as a Volunteer Grant Writer for IBD Connect. Here is a little bit about Christina in her own words!"I’m thrilled to share a glimpse of my journey, and I eagerly anticipate collaborating with IBD Connect. My name is Christina Royster, and my life has been far from ordinary. With a deep-rooted passion for writing (I even penned my first novella in high school!), I've dedicated over a decade to refining my skills across creative, academic, and professional domains.
Before diving into the world of grant writing and creative endeavors, I served in the Air Force, where I embraced the discipline and precision that would later become invaluable in my writing career. And it was while I was serving that I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder at nineteen years old. After I was medically retired, I completed my bachelor’s degree (where I degree-hopped and ended up writing about various subjects, realizing that I loved academic writing) and eventually landed in an RBT role that I instantly loved and found so rewarding.
Two years ago, while pursuing my master’s degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing, I discovered the fascinating world of grant writing. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in learning everything from strategic proposal crafting to thorough grant research. I recently completed Holly Rustick's renowned Grant Writing and Funding Certification Program, significantly enhancing my skills. In addition to my individual efforts, I have partnered with the Grant Writing and Funding Collective, ensuring every proposal written for your organization benefits from the insights of seasoned professionals with over 20 years of experience and a track record of securing over $60 million in grants.
When I am not crafting compelling narratives or cheering on the kids as an RBT, you'll find me enjoying a good book while lounging at the beach, exploring new writing genres, or brainstorming ways to impact the lives of those in my community positively.
I’m incredibly eager for the opportunity to contribute to IBD Connect and help secure the funding necessary to support the organization's vital mission. I'm ready to use my diverse skills and experiences to make a difference."
