My daughter said, "I hate when we are called warriors or superheroes, we haven't done anything except be sick". I told her, do you think everyone feels crappy like you do on your bad days and remember when you were really sick and in the hospital for a week or two at a time and you needed infusions, or were so weak you couldn't even cry? Do you remember the surgeries, the millions of colonoscopies, the iv's, the blood draws, the exhaustion, the colostomy bag? Do you remember panicking because we couldn't find a bathroom or maybe an adult told you that you couldn't go to the bathroom? Or all the times the kids in class looked at you with pity or as the weird sick kid? Well all those things that you dealt with when you were a little kid IS NOT something regular people experience. It is hard for an adult to deal with all of that, but for a little kid it is really hard. And you and the others that Lisa calls "warriors" or superheroes deal with it every day and yet you smile and laugh and play and grow up. Many people could not do that, they would get depressed or angry all the time, they don't have the power and drive to do what you and the others do every single day. It takes someone strong to do what you guys do, so that is why you are called warriors or superheroes.
